about JVA

What is the Japan Vineyard Association?

Japan Vineyard Association (JVA) is a non-profit support organization for wine grape growers established in 2019 with the aim of improving and developing the quality of Japanese wine.

The number of wineries in Japan has been increasing every year, and currently there are over 300 wineries in operation throughout the country. At the same time, the number of wine grape growers is also increasing.

The Association has now begun importing and cultivating a variety of healthy, virus- and pest-free seedlings that have not yet entered Japan, so that Japanese wine grape growers can expand their selection possibilities. We also hold regular seminars aimed at improving the skills of growers.

In the future, we plan to cooperate with nurseries to build a system for mass production of diverse, high-quality seedlings. We also plan to cooperate with government agencies, research institutes, and municipalities to build a system for collecting and sharing the latest information on varieties, clones, cultivation methods, and disease and pest control.

Vines can survive for nearly 100 years. Looking ahead to 20, 50, and 100 years from now, the Association will also stand by the producers and support their activities in various ways so that "wines that reflect the climate of Japan" will be established and their position in the world market will be unshakeable.
